Ditch the Plastic Go Zero Waste!

Ditch the Plastic Go Zero Waste!

Zero waste workshop

This past Sunday, we were honored to announce that the Garden club from Florida International University chose The Pleasant Garden to host their Zero Waste workshop on the importance of reducing, reusing, and recycling the use of plastic. Their mission is to provoke people into achieving a more sustainable lifestyle. Various guest speakers attended the workshop, and they each spoke about being Zero Waste and its wide number of benefits to our environment. They also took the opportunity to speak about how we can make a great difference in our world.

No single use plastic

As you all may know, the use of single-use plastic has been withholding a detrimental effect on our planet Earth. Here at The Pleasant Garden, we care deeply about our environment and aspire to make it better one day at a time by being the only eco-friendly venue in the Redlands area. At our venue, we don’t allow the use of balloons or single-use plastics that could potentially harm our environment. We believe that you could still celebrate while still being mindful of Earth. To put into perspective, by using glass cups at a 100 person celebration, we save about 400 cups of plastic. That is saving the Earth from 400 cups of pollution. It may not sound like a lot, but over time it slowly starts to make a change. According to the Center of Biology, “There will be more plastic than fish in the sea by 2050.” This is one of the many reasons why being environment friendly and living a sustainable lifestyle is crucial to obtain.

Thanks to the FIU Garden Club

With that being said, we are feeling fortunate that the Garden Club hosted their Zero Waste workshop here at The Pleasant Garden. It was a day filled with lots of impactful information and advice that can not only change your life but the world around you. The Earth is what we all have in common, so let’s take good care of it!

When you’re not sure where to start planning a wedding, narrowing down the first steps can feel downright overwhelming… but don’t worry. We’ve got you covered.
Start Thinking Big Picture: inute you get engaged, everyone will be asking for your wedding date. In reality, though, you won’t be able to set an exact wedding date until other major decisions—like setting your budget—are made. But before you dive into the nitty-gritty details, we recommend thinking about the big picture vision you have for your wedding day. What time of year do you want to host your celebration? What wedding venue style sparks your interest? Are you drawn to intimate, outdoor boho parties, or would you rather have a glam formal affair at a chic city rooftop? How many people do you want to invite? These are key details to consider before you move forward with any decisions. “I always ask my couples to describe their perfect wedding day,” says Mary Thornton, founder of Connecticut-based stationery boutique and event planning company Party Party.
