The Covid-19 pandemic has defiantly changed the lives of the people in short amount of time. The process of things was altered to ensure the health of the population. From the closing of businesses to mask and capacity laws, the U.S government is taking the necessary measures to ensure the safety of the people are being put first.
One main concern was to prevent a food shortage from happening. USDA and FDA announced a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to help prevent interruptions at FDA-regulated food facilities, including fruit, vegetable, and dairy processing, to ensure the American food supply chain can continue to flow without interruption. Both the USDA and FDA will work with facilities and farms, CDC, OSHA, and state, tribal, and local officials to ensure facilities and farms are implementing practices consistent with federal worker safety guidelines. Maintaining operations was crucial not to break the continuity of our food supply which could have led to shortages very quickly. They continue to operate in accordance with guidelines regarding the safety of their employees. The U.S. Department of Agriculture and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration are relentlessly working to assure Americans will continue to have access to a safe and vigorous food supply.
